The design of Urban Beehive is modern, appealing, and respect the natural behavior of the bees. There are 2 parts: the entry passage and flower pot outside, and the glass vessel containing an array of honeycomb frames inside. The glass shell filters light to let through the orange wavelength which bees use for sight. The bees can build their wax cells from the frames that provide a honeycomb texture. In order to calm the bees before you can open this beehive, smoke can be released into it.

You should know that global bee colonies are declining slowly, Urban Beehive design will contribute to the preservation of these beautiful species, encourage the return of the urban bee. Bees produce honey and propolis, once people understand the health benefits of honey and propolis, we’re sure, this Urban Beehive can have an important role in the home apothecary.

Portuguese practice OODA created a proposal for the ‘Istanbul disaster prevention + education centre’ international design competition to implement a facility to protect against and inform of the implications of natural disasters to be located within Istanbul, Turkey. The tilted axis of the geometrical structure is set within a landscape featuring a cultural turkish pattern generating a network of connections to the surrounding context. Leading towards the iconic building, a series of walled pathways are carved into the constructed site and a park is placed upon the generated roof. Programmatic spaces within the multiple and irregular levels intend to host courses, seminars and venues to develop public awareness about earthquakes and floods.

A product design and manufacture consultancy based in Yorkshre, UK, HJC Design has developed a newrange of kitchenware for Peel UK. One of to be released kitchenware is this visually attractive coffee machine. The main artistic design of this coffee machine is the elegantly crafted surface that resembles a beautiful eye-catching waterfall of rich coffee. As you can guess, the design was inspired by the drop of a flowing coffee. Coffee lover can place their coffee mug for brewing on top of the rippled stainless steel base plate.

The soft soothing blue light that surrounds the base adds elegant and futuristic touch to this coffee machine design. This glowing LED light also indicates when the machine is brewing your coffee. I guess on dark mornings, you’ll light up your kitchen when brewing your coffee using this machine.

Bocci has introduced a huge range of color in its 28 series collection. Creative Director Omer Arbel’s intent behind 28 was to design a system that produces form, rather than designing form itself. A magnificent success, the pendants are designed to cluster in hexagonal shapes, which nestle into one another. Adding color introduces a grand range of infinite possibilities, from clustering by similar hues to creating amazing multicolor installations.

Considered one of the best Japanese restaurants in Mexico City and due to its remarkable success, Tori-Tori is now moving to a bigger location in the same area of Polanco, Mexico City, where Architect Michel Rojkind and Industrial Designer Hector Esrawe teamed up to make it happen.

At the residential area in Polanco that has seen changes in its zoning, houses have been transformed to office spaces or restaurants.
Sometimes things happen so unnoticeably, that just a small sign appears where a new space has been developed with a completely different program inside, while preserving its exterior. Aware of this, Rojkind and Esrawe wanted to give enough strength to the new program that they proposed to transform the space inside out.

Taking advantage of the plot’s conditions, the parking space will be left where it is, to use the budget mainly for restructuring and renovating the house, stripping the residential interior and removing all familiar features to produce an entirely different environment.

Exclamation Marky Flying Robot was the first creative work of young office “Form & Drang” in Leipzig, Germany. It is actually a mascot to symbolize futuristic, quickness, youthful energy, enthusiasm, and action. The client demanded the mascot represents all that symbols in exclamation point!. That’s why therobot looks like flying exclamation mark. During the design process, the team was inspired by the actual design of computers, mp3 players, and many gadgets, because the intention was to reach young and technology interested people through this robot.
Zaha Hadid Architect and Roca announce the opening of the Roca London Gallery – a design inspired by the power of water as a transforming element to carve a sequence of dynamic, porous spaces for the gallery. Fissures and slices in the walls give permeability consistently throughout the gallery. The design theme of water extends to the facade, which appears as a set of ripples in movement across the exterior.

Dassault Systèmes, one of the world leaders in 3D and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) solutions has been a pioneer in the 3D software market since 1981. Earlier in February 2011, Dassault Systèmes started a design challenge in partnership with AutoDesign & Styling magazine where participants under age 35 were asked to design an innovative and environment friendly taxi for the future Prague. A total of 80 designers from 23 countries have participated the competition and the winners have been declared recently among the top 23 designs considering mainly the simplicity, uniqueness, aesthetic quality, consumer modesty and connection with Prague by board of 7 juries consisting of industry leading designers. The prize of the Dassault Systèmes Design Challenge competition was 1st prize € 1,000, 2nd prize € 500 and 3rd prize € 300.

The first place has been secured by Diego García and the name of his taxi concept was ‘Visitor’. This electric taxi ensures that the tourists of Prague will not miss a single attraction of the city while riding on it. It offers maximum space for the passengers and contains large windows and a basic simple shape along with interesting color combination.

‘Cell-e’, designed by Josef Ludvík Böhm was the runner-up taxi concept that utilizes the most of it’s interior space by offering up to 6 passengers enough space to enjoy their ride. Besides, this electric taxi is powered by batteries that gets charged through the solar panel placed on the roof and can also be converted into a cargo. The dark glass construction of the taxi gives it a shape of a funny simple box that features free parts to be used as a communication tool for projecting advertisements.
